According to New York Times, marijuana will soon be allowed in the State of New York, limited use for medical purposes. Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to announce later in the week this relaxation of the law. However, it will be framed by significant restrictions and will only be allowed for critically ill patients.
Twenty hospitals will be allowed to prescribe marijuana to patients with cancer, glaucoma or other serious diseases on the list, based on criteria selected by the health authorities State.
This initiative is part of a broader easing of laws on cannabis in the United States, Colorado becoming the first state, on January1st, to use marijuana without prescription movement. The State of Washington, on the Pacific coast, is preparing also to legalize recreational use of marijuana.
In twenty other states the legislation allows the therapeutic uses of this drug that may have analgesic effects or can be used in case of loss of appetite.
